Under California law, "medical waste"' is regulated by the California Medical Waste <br /> Management Act which became effective on January 1, 1991 and was implemented on April 1, <br /> 1991. <br /> All "Regglated Waste"shall be hauled off site by either a registered hazardous waste hauler or <br /> by a person with an Vproved limited ,uantity exemption gLanted b T the County of San Jogguin <br /> Environmental Health Denartment 209-468-3420. <br /> When the medical waste hauler removes the waste, we must retain a copy of its completed <br /> medical waste tracking document for a minimum of three years.Medical waste shall only be <br /> transported to a permitted medical waste treatment facility or tog transfer station or another <br /> facility for the purpose of consolidation before treatment and disposal. <br /> This office is registered with the County of San Jogguin Environmental Health Depprtment 209- <br /> 468-3420 as a medical waste generator. If this Office ever wishes to treat medical waste on-site <br /> by autoclaving, transport our own medical waste or operate a"Common Storage Facility,"we <br /> will contact County of San Jon in Environmental Health Department 2:09-468-3420 and obtain <br /> all required permits before conducting any of these activities. <br /> Administrative Requirements for Small Quantity Generators (less than 200 <br /> lbs.lmoath of medical waste) <br /> This office will maintain all of the following documents on site: <br /> • All tracking records of-Regulated Waste"transported off-site for treatment and <br /> disposal, including the quantity of waste transported and the date and the name of the <br /> hauler.
