Our comments on the reports are contained in the <br /> attached memorandum. <br /> By 3 July 1987, please submit the following: <br /> 1. Corrected statistical analyses for Pit 1 and the high explosives (HE) <br /> surface impoundment, including justification for the background period(s) <br /> used; <br /> 2. A work plan and time schedule for an investigation of the occurrence of HE <br /> and metals in ground water at .the HE-surface impoundment, including the <br /> source and extent of contamination; <br /> 3.. A work plan and time, schedule to define the extent of the plume of TCE and <br /> other chlorinated hydrocarbons at the Pit 7 complex; and <br /> 4. Answers -to the other comments contained in the attached memo. <br /> Your 28 April 1987 letter requested approval to utilize LLNL' s analytical <br /> laboratory- for -tr-itium -analyses instead of the contract lab currently used. Your <br /> letter cited lower detection limits and uncertainties, faster turn-around time, <br /> and consistency with the tritium investigation as reasons for the request.
