In the past you received the Ground Water <br /> Update; we're experimenting with a different format to get information to you faster. <br /> DOE and LLNL have come to a new stage in the technical work. We are designing and implementing the chosen <br /> cleanup methods. Our future communication activities will be particularly challenging because a cleanup of this <br /> size is a dynamic process, and is being carried out in a highly political arena: <br /> • DOE and LLNL have little control over one of the major community concerns — <br /> cleanup funding levels.We expect that this will be an issue until cleanup is complete. <br /> It is particularly sensitive now as a newAdministration and Congress look at ways to cut <br /> spending and reduce the deficit. <br /> • The cleanup approach will continue to be refined and optimized as actual fief ,_ <br /> observations show us how accurate our estimates have been. There are techni , '. <br /> uncertainties regarding large-scale ground water and soil cleanups like ours. For thi <br /> reason,initial conclusions regarding cleanup progress are expected to change overtimes .4 <br /> (But they haven't changed yet!
