In accordance with San Joaquin County Code,Section
8-1001,the permit expires if an inspection has not been APPROVED and recorded within 180 days. If your permit expires,it must
be renewed.
This section further states that an extension of time for 180 days may be considered if circumstances beyond the control of the
permittee have prevented action from being taken. If you feel an extension of time is warranted, you must submit a written request to
the Building Official, prior to expiration, stating your circumstances. Written requests may be mailed to the Community Development
partment, Permit Tracking Section, 1810 E. Hazelton Avenue, Stockton,CA 95205. No permit shall be extended more than
once. Please note, if your permit was previously extended for 180 days, you must obtain an APPROVED and recorded inspection at
this time or you will be required to pay fees to renew your building permit when it expires.
Please call for an inspection if the work for your next required inspection is complete. The telephone number for the 24 hour recorder
is 468-3165. An APPROVED and recorded inspection will renew your permit for 180 days. If you allow your permit to expire, you
will be required to renew it per the San Joaquin County Code. The San Joaquin County Code requires the following:
Expiration. Every permit issued by the Building Official under the provisions of this code shall expire by limitation and
become null and void if the building or work authorized by such permit is not commenced within 180 days from the date of
such permit,or if the building or work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at any time after the work is
commenced for a period of 180 days. Work shall be considered abandoned if an inspection has not been recorded and
approved within 180 days. Before such work can be recommenced,a new permit shall be first obtained to do so,and the fee
therefore shall be one-half the amount required for a new permit for such work, provided no changes have been made or will
be made in the original plans and specifications for such work;and provided further that such suspension or abandonment has
not exceeded one year. In order to renew action on a permit after expiration, the permittee shall pay a new full permit
fee.
If you allow your permit to expire and do not renew it promptly, further enforcement
action may be taken which could result in the issuance of a citation. A Notice of Code
Violation may be recorded when a permit has expired.
If you have any questions, please contact the Permit Tracking Section at 468-2379.
Sincerely,
PERMIT TRACKING SECTION
RME/CF:tf
