KLEINFELDER
File No. 20-3978-0LW10
July 26, 1997
2. Kleinfelder does not recommend any further investigation or clean-up of the railroad spur
locations. This does however exclude the apparently isolated area of high soluble lead.
Kleinfelder recommends that this area of soluble lead concentrations which exceed the
STLC-Regulated Level should be excavated and properly disposed of to improve property
marketability. Confirmation soil samples using STLC-Lead analysis should be obtained to
verify the adequacy of excavation (<5 µg/kg). However, Kleinfelder recommends that a
copy of this report be submitted to the RWQCB and PHS/EHD for their review and
comment. Additionally, Kleinfelder recommends that a letter of "no further action" be
requested from both agencies.
3. The existing soil cuttings (a.k.a.... drilling returns) should be evaluated and properly disposed
of by the client. Kleinfelder can assist the Atherton-Kirk in that disposal at the Client's
request at an additional cost..
4. The equipment rinseate should be properly evaluated and disposed of by Atherton Kirk
Development. Kleinfelder can assist Atherton-Kirk in that disposal at the Client's request at
an additional cost.
4.7 Orchard Area(File No. 20-3978-01.WR7)
Based on the results of the subsurface assessment conducted in this area, Kleinfelder had the
following recommendations detailed in our report "Limited Phase H Soil and Groundwater
Assessment, Proposed 25 Acre Residential Development, (Phase I ESA Recommendation
Number 1 and a portion of Phase I ESA Recommendation 13), Former Spreckels Sugar Plant No.
2, 18800 South Spreckels Road, Manteca, California, (APN # 221-180-04)" dated February 20,
1997:
1. The existing soil cuttings(a.k.a.... drilling returns) should be evaluated and properly disposed
of by Atherton-Kirk.. Kleinfelder can assist the Atherton-Kirk in that disposal at the Client's
request at an additional cost.
2. The equipment rinseate should be properly evaluated and disposed of by Atherton-Kirk.
Kleinfelder can assist Atherton-Kirk in that disposal at the Client's request at an additional
cost.
20-3978-01.W10/2017L 155 Page 23 of 50 Copyright 1997,Kleinfelder,Inc.
