KLEINFELDER
1.2 Objective and Approach
The objective of this workplan is to remove buried debris from the site so that it will not interfere
with future development of the site. This objective will be achieved by excavation of the debris.
Debris found in the Site C and Site B disposal areas as well as the near surface debris found in
Sites A, D and E will be excavated for either recycling or offsite landfilling.
2.0 SCOPE OF WORK
2.1 Health and Safety Plans
Based on existing information, the inplace debris is non-hazardous and special health and safety
training for the excavation crew is not envisioned although personnel associated with the
excavation work will be briefed on the character of the buried debris. The contractor will be
required to develop a health and safety plan for the work. Kleinfelder will be onsite providing
construction observation services and will also prepare a health and safety plan for their
activities. If during excavation activities Kleinfelder or contractor personnel observe unexpected
situations not covered by the health and safety plans (e.g. finding waste that appears to be
hazardous),work will be stopped until the health and safety plans can be revised to accommodate
the changed conditions. If necessary, a construction crew with special hazardous waste training
may be brought onsite to assist with the debris excavation.
2.2 Excavation of Debris
Debris will be excavated from the disposal areas by an independently contracted excavation
contractor for Atherton Kirk Development. After excavation, the debris will be transported to a
sorting area for recycling.
2.3 Construction Observation
Kleinfelder personnel will be onsite to observe and document debris excavation and recycling
activities.
20-3978-OI.W36/2017P117 Page 2 of 6
©1997,Kleinfelder,Inc.
