MEMORANDUM
August 20, 1992 s`
TO: 1 tepEen therf,'#Deputy Director, Public
n
FROM: Gary C. Ingraham, Assistant City Manager
SUBJECT: POSSIBLE CONTAMINATED SITE AT 2441 CHARTER WAY
Ms. Elaine Cook called me this morning. Ms. Cook is employed by
Professional Services Industries. As I understand, Ms. Cook does
research for possible contaminated sites and then informs a
financial group by the name of Milhouse. What Professional
Services Industries relationship might be with the Milhouse group,
I am not aware except that the Milhouse group does fund clean ups
for contaminated sites.
Apparently, Ms. Cook called Susan Krietemeyer earlier. Susan
referred Ms. Cook to John Giambiastiani and asked him questions
regarding the 2441 Charter Way site. John Giambiastiani supposedly
remembered that it used to be recycling site some 30 years ago or
so. He was also of the impression and informed her that if they
could not recycle materials, they buried them on the site.
This opens the possibility that the site could be contaminated. My
question to you is do we have any responsibility to advise any
other governmental agency regarding this possibility? If so, who?
Please advise regarding questions above as soon as possible.
GARY . INGRAHAM
ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER
GCI:ta
