be taken as well) placed on ice and delivered to the laboratory in
sufficent time to complete analysis before expiration of allowable
holding times. Each sample will be accompanied to the Laboratory with
the appropriate analysis Form and a Chain of Custody record.
Sampling aperatus will be washed in a Tri.sodium Phosphate
solution followed by steam cleaning following collection of each
sample.
Laboratory analysis will be run for the constituents listed on
Form WASTEANAh for the waste material, and Form SOILANAL for the
underlying soils. Sample preparation and analytical methods to be
used are summarized on these Forms.
Closure of the excavations will consist of placing a bentonite
slurry at least 6 inches thick at the base of the excavation (if the
excavation reaches within 6 inches of the base of the landfill) , or
with bendonite pellets placed throughout the vibracored hole in order
to provide an impermeable seal. The excavation will then be
backfilled with the excavated beatonitic waste muds.
In the unlikely instance that the above sampling plan is not
applicable to the site conditions, county drilling permits will be
obtained and a hollow stem auger will be employed for this sampling.
- 0£f-Site
Figure 4 shows locations of previous off-site soil sampling.
Site PS-7 is nominated as one of these sites in order to verify
previous sample results. In addition Sites CS-1 and CS-2 are
nominated as new off-site soil sample locations.
These samples will be taken at a depth of 6 feet from a backhoe
excavation. Field logs for each excavation will be made by a
geologist, and field measurements will be taken for pH. Laboratory
analysis will be run for the constituents and by the methods listed on
Form SOILANAL. Samples will be collected using a stainless steel
sampler, placed in a plastic sack and a sealed brass tube (for
hydrocarbon analysis) , placed on ice and delivered to the laboratory
accompanied with analysis Form SOILANAL and a Chain of Custody record.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
In order to provide quality assurance on the results recieved
during the program outlined above the following QA program will be
incorporated. One water and one soil travel blank will be included
for laboratory analysis. In addition one duplicate soil/waste sample
(from a total of 9 soil/waste samples) will be sent for quality
assurance analyses. Also one additional water sample duplicate (from
a total of 11 water samples) will be sent for quality assurance
analyses.
1EMR>_
_v
CONDOR ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
