1.0 MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION
1.1 General Information
• Purpose of the monitoring well installation: conducted on behalf of Cove Contractors,
Inc. to meet the request for reinstallation of the closed well MW-7 by Ms. Mary Boyd of
the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB).
• The site vicinity map is illustrated in Figure 1.
• The groundwater monitoring well was installed at the North West corner of the landfill
boundary. The well was located in the vicinity of the existing closed well MW-7 and
was renamed MW-7A. A copy of the installation permit issued by the San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Department is provided in Appendix A.
• In addition, a scaled map of the facility site features, including the existing wells, and
newly installed MW-7A, is illustrated in Figure 2.
• Based on the historic northeasterly groundwater flow direction MW-7A will be
considered a corrective action monitoring point.
1.2 Drilling Details
• EarthCon provided oversight of the drilling and well installation activities on September
28, 2015.
• Jeremy Neff of Gregg Drilling, Inc., from Martinez, California, installed monitoring well
MW-7A by using a hollow stem auger drill rig.
• A clean auger was utilized in MW-7A and decontamination procedures were conducted
in accordance with Gregg Drilling, Inc's standard operating procedures.
• Boring logs, documenting soil lithology from a continuous core, were completed by a
field geologist. The Unified Soil Classification System was utilized to describe the soil
lithology during installation as illustrated on the well construction diagrams provided in
Appendix B.
• Investigation Derived Wastes(IDW)included soil cuttings, decontamination water, and
produced water from the development of the groundwater monitoring well. IDW was
containerized; separating solids from liquids, in DOT approved 55-gallon drums. The
solids drums were temporarily stored on-Site until they were added to a 20-yard bin of
soil cuttings generated from drilling into the landfill, characterized, and will be
transported off-Site for disposal based on the analytical results. Purge water from
development was captured in a 500 gallon container and process through the on-Site
treatment system. Cove Contractors is responsible for the IDW management and
proper disposal.
1.3 Well Development
• Well development was conducted on October 1, 2015
MW-7A Install Report Stockton,CA
Cove Contractors 1 Project No.04.20090407.00
