Mr. Ed Padilla
October 19, 1992
Page Two
Non -Treatment Options:
■ Dilute 10:1 (approximate average) with water and use for ongoing dust control needs
on the landfill.
■ Evaporated to the atmosphere. Remaining solids to be landfilled at Stockton or hauled
to Kettleman Hills depending on classification.
■ Hauled directly to a treatment and disposal facility, such as Ashland Oil, Waste Water
Treatment Plant, or Kettleman Hills Landfill.
Treatment Options:
■ Ozone Treatment System:
Q Treated on-site and used for dust control on the landfill
El Treated and hauled off-site
■ City of Stockton's Air Stripper
El Treated on-site and used for dust control on the landfill
El Treated and hauled off-site
Q Treated and handled the same as the ground water.
As you can see, there are several options available in which to dispose of the
condensate. At present, Pacific Energy is still in the process of determining which option
is the most cost effective and viable, given that several of these will require permits not yet
applied for. Currently, we are leaning towards diluting the condensate with water to help
satisfy dust control requirements. When you consider the small volumes of condensate,
the fact that water is being used anyway to control dust on the landfill, and that the great
majority of the mixed water and condensate will evaporate to the atmosphere, this solution
appears to be an ideal one. In any event, the final determination of the condensate
