Box 2009 g {CES
Stockton, CA 95201
ATTN: ED PADILLA, REHS
SUBJECT: MEETING TO DISCUSS INSTALLATION AND OPERATION OF THE
GROUND -WATER REMEDIATION SYSTEM AT AUSTIN ROAD LANDFILL
The City of Stockton has made continued progress on implementing
ground -water remediation at its Austin Road Landfill. This
remedial action is in response to an apparent release of
chlorinated hydrocarbons from the landfill. The final design
drawings and technical specifications for the remediation system
have recently been completed. In addition, the City of Stockton
has applied for permits to discharge the treated effluent to an
adjacent creek (Little Johns Creek) and discharge the air stream
from the stripping tower to the atmosphere.
At this point, the City of Stockton wishes to make itself and its
consultant available to respond to any requests your agency may
have regarding clarification of the remediation approach or system
design, or additional permitting or notification requirements which
your agency may plan to impose.
Therefore, the City of Stockton has made arrangements with the
Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region, 3443
Routier Road, Sacramento, to hold a meeting at its facilities on
March 11, 1992 at 9:00 a.m. The purpose of this meeting will be
to.
A) Respond to any questions on the remediation approach.
B) Respond to any questions on the remediation system design.
C) Request that your agency provide notification of permit or
notification requirements which have not yet been addressed.
D) Request the status of permits for which the City of Stockton
has applied.
I would appreciate notification of whether a representative of your
agency will attend the meeting. Please call me at (209) 944-8826.
Mike Miller, Solid Waste Manager
"STOCKTON ... CALIFORNIA'S SUNRISE SEAPORT"
