Evans, Area Engineer
AUSTIN ROAD LANDFILL --NOTICE OF VIOLATION
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY (CASE NO. 2148)
Enclosed is a letter from the landfill operator, Gambi Enterprises,
Inc., stating that Little Johns Creek was cleaned shortly after
your inspection. They also stated that they will be inspecting the
creek daily instead of weekly.
Staff records show that calls were made to your office on December
10th at 3:30 p.m., December 11th at 10:15 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m. to
report that the landfill operator was cleaning the creek area.
Additionally, the operator has erected a second portable barrier
fence around his filling operation.
The landfill operator is presently depositing waste materials
between Station 18+00 and 20+00 as shown on the intermediate
grading plan dated September 21, 1990. He has completed the
northerly portion and is now working in the southerly area.
The landfill operator requested advice from the County Agricultural
Department regarding squirrel and rodent control. He was advised
to grade the area, and where new holes appear apply "DIPHACINONE"
treated grain bait in the surrounding area.
In regards to the one foot dirt cover over the temporary sludge
storage, we feel that this would be impracticable due to the
reasons stated in the enclosed inter -department memo. We also went
over these reasons with Mr. Tucker and decided to continue the
present maintenance of covering it with plastic sheets. As it was
indicated by the landfill operator, it will be inspected by the
landfill operator on a daily basis.
