Mr. James B. Giottonini -2- 30 August 1994
about 1,000 feet north of the landfill, they are 2,500 feet apart and neither is directly between the
landfill and the three supply wells in the direction of ground water flow (see Attachments 1 and 2).
MW -12 along Austin Road is clean, but the City reported on 6 July 1994 that MW -13 may be
showing water quality impacts due to landfill leachate.
This combination of well locations, ground water gradient and water quality data means there are no
clean monitoring wells between the landfill and the supply wells in question. On this basis, we
requested the City to resample the two residential wells and NCYC irrigation well for VOC analysis
and stated our intent to collect duplicate samples at the same time for independent analyses. We
believe this is the most effective and timely way to follow up on the OREDS information.
If you have any questions, please call me at (916) 255-3131.
STEVE E.
