El Dorado Street, Room 317
Stockton, CA 95202
C cy—
RE: Alternative Daily Cover for the Austin Road Landfill, San Joaquin County, Facility
No. 39 -AA -0001
Public Health Services - Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) staff has reviewed the
California Integrated Waste Management Board letter dated February 24, 1994, regarding
alternative daily cover. Due to PHS-EHD staffing limitations, this Department can only
accommodate one demonstration project at a time for any of our landfills. The use of the
Covertech C-440, green waste, and especially sewage sludge as demonstration projects
simultaneously will add a untenable burden to our staff. If green waste is to be used as
alternative daily cover (ADC), the Covertech C-440 demonstration project should fust be
completed.
Should you have any questions regarding the above matter, please contact Ed Padilla, Senior
RENS at (209) 468-3458.
Sincerely,
Al Olsen, Program Manager
Environmental Health Division
cc: Wes Mindermann, C
Glenn Birdzell, Stockton Municipal Utilities Department
A Dkision of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
