DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
CITY HALL
425 N. EL DORADO STREET
STOCKTON, CA 55202-1 S97
January 25, 1996
Mr. Timothy W. Christ, P.E.
California Integrated Waste Management Board
Closure and Remediation Branch
Permitting and Enforcement Division
8800 Cal Center Drive
Sacramento, CA 95826
4 -ND EXPANSION
In closure documents for the existing landfill and proposed expansion, the City of Stockton states
that there will be sufficient clay soil from an adjacent 126 acre site to close the landfill. This
conclusion is based on a soil investigation of a nearby 45 acre site and the assumption that the
geology of the area is generally uniform. In order to verify this assumption, Twining
Laboratories will be retained to conduct a soil investigation of the 126 acre site. Unfortunately,
because of the winter weather, access to the site has been difficult. As soon as weather permits,
the soil investigation will be conducted and the soil volume information you have requested will
be provided. At the latest, this information should be available by May 1, 1996.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (209) 937-8829.
ROBERT MURDOCH, P.E.
SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER
cc: Stephen Chen
Mike Miller
Mark Ingham, R.W.
