CIVIL ENGINEER
CITY HALL ROOM 317
STOCKTON, ca 95207
SUBJECT: AGRICULTURAL WELL LOCATED ON EAST SIDE OF CALIFORNIA YOM
CENTER
This memo is to further inform you that well site, where the
groundwater sample was taken by Clark Well Drilling Co., is
contaminated with over 100 gallons of oily petroleum product.
I revisited the site this morning to determine the depth of water
(with a battery operated measuring device) and could not get a
sounding due to the oil not conducting the battery current.
Upon reeling up the measuring tape, with the oil splattering all
over my clothe, -I noted over 10 feet of oily substance on the
measuring tape.
Mike Clark, Clark Well Drilling Co., asked his worker if they ran
into oil while sampling this well and they stated that there was a
lot of oil in this well.
Mike stated in some instances, he has pumped over 300 gallons of
oil out of turbine pump wells. He further stated that all the older
turbine pump wells have oil in the groundwater.
I thought you may want to relay this information to Steve
Rosenbaum, RWQCB, our engineer with the Water Board.
cc: Jerry Noma,
Mike Miller,
California Youth Center
Solid Waste Manager
