C]
Proposed Facilities
` The proposed project is to expand the landfill by 222 acres (Figure 1-3). The 222 acres will
be divided into three parcels: 126.4 acres north of the current landfill will be used as facilities,
equipment areas, and a soil borrow area for landfill operations; 84.6 acres southeast of the current
landfill is proposed for fill; and 11.0 acres northeast of the current landfill will be used as a floodplain
area. In addition, the current 42.6 -acre borrow area will be converted into a landfill area. Once
horizontal expansion is completed and the existing landfill properly closed, the landfill cap will have
a final grade height of 150 feet msl. The proposed project would extend the life of the permitted
landfill to 2053.
Effects of the Proposed Project on Jurisdicational Areas
The proposed landfill expansion would have an impact on 2.895 acres of jurisdictional waters
r of the United States including 0.859 acre of wetlands (Jones & Stokes Associates, Inc. 1995).
0
Wetland Mitigation and Monitoring Plan for the ` " q-.'
Austin Road landfill Expansion.
U.
