Discussion regarding landfill liner <br /> construction alternatives using en-site soils. <br /> SITE CONDITIONS <br /> At the time of our field explorations, the investigation area was <br /> relatively rolling hillsides surrounding the active landfill area. <br /> Existing structures within this fenced area consisted of a <br /> maintenance shop, manager's residence, and guard shed. Underground <br /> utilities or any other buried objects at the site are not known to <br /> our firm. <br /> FIELD EXPLORATIONS <br /> The field explorations for this investigation were performed <br /> between October 23 and 25, 1990 and consisted of drilling 7 test <br /> borings to depths ranging from approximately 30 to 65 feet below <br /> existing ground surface. Depths of borings were selected to <br /> correspond to 10 feet below the bottom of the landfill. The test <br /> borings were drilled with a truck-mounted drill rig using 8-inch <br /> diameter, hollow-stem, continuous-flight augers.
