GROUNDWATER FLOW DIRECTION
Groundwater levels were measured in monitoring wells MWA, MW-2, and MW-3, on October
9, 2000. Groundwater flow, as shown in figure 2, is inferred to be toward the southwest. The
groundwater gradient is 0.00156 foot per foot, and it was calculated by dividing the difference in
elevation between the 50.0 and 52.0 foot contours (2.0 feet), and dividing by the measured
distance between them (1279.2 feet).
STANDARD OBSERVATIONS
Weekly site inspections have been performed during the fourth quarter of 2000 and in prior
quarters. A summary of the weekly observations for the quarter can be found on the form in
Appendix F. A signature on the form is the certification that all observations were performed
' and are accurate.
RUN-OFF/RUN-ON FACILITIES
The Foothill Sanitary Landfill utilizes several methods to control run-on and run-off. The natural
topography of the area works to control any run-on into the site. Also, the working area is a
' significant distance from the property boundary, so run-on from surrounding properties is
minimal. To control run-off, a perimeter ditch along the north and east ends of the unit direct all
storm water run-off into a sedimentation basin on the east side of the site. The rest of the run-off
from the unit gathers into a temporary sedimentation basin that is the excavation of a future
module. During the fourth quarter of 2000 there were no breeches to any of the run-on/run-off
facilities, and they will continue to be monitored in the future.
ANNUAL REPORT
Every year, in conjunction with the fourth quarter monitoring report, an annual report is done to
graphically represent the data. Appendix G contains the graphs and the 2000 Annual Report.
N:\M is hae1\FH\G Wmon\4th00rep."d
7
