fAsOlumbia
2655 Park Center Drive, Suite A Simi Valley, California 93065 (805)526-7161 (805)526-7270 fax Analytical nc
Services
An Employee-Owned Company
Client: Shaw Environmental & Infrastructure, Inc. CAS Project No: P0800193
Project: Foothill Landfill, San Joaquin County/ 124591 (Leachate Module)
CASE NARRATIVE
The sarnple(s) were received intact under chain of custody on 02/06/08 and were stored in accordance
with the analytical method requirements. Please refer to the sample acceptance.check form for additional
information. The results reported herein are applicable only to the condition of the sample(s) at the time
of sample receipt.
Volatile Organic Compounds by EPA Method 8260
Sample L-01 (P0800193-001) required a dilution due to matrix interference. The reporting limits are
adjusted to reflect the dilution.
Batch QC (Matrix Spike) was analyzed with the sample(s) and has been provided for informational
purposes only.
The spike recovery for Acrylonitrile in the Laboratory Control Sample(LCS) identified as PWG0800308-
3 was outside the lower control criterion. The error associated with reduced recovery equates to a
potential low bias. However, the spike recovery was within the Continuing Calibration Verification
(CCV) and Initial Calibration Verification (ICV) criteria of 70%-130%. The analyte(s) in question
was/were not detected in the associated field sample(s); however, a Method Reporting Limit (MRL)
check standard containing the analyte(s) of concern was analyzed and verified that instrument sensitivity
was adequate to detect the analyte at the MRL on the day of analysis. Because the sensitivity was shown
to be adequate to detect the compound in question, the compound was not detected in the field samples)
and the DLCS verified extraction efficiency, data quality is not significantly affected. No further
corrective action was taken.
The upper control criterion was exceeded for sec-Butylbenzene in the Laboratory Control Sample (LCS)
PWG0800308-3. The analyte(s) in question were not detected in the associated field samples. Since the
error associated with the elevated recovery equates to a high bias, the sample data has not been
significantly affected. The data has been flagged accordingly. No corrective action was required.
i
1
2
1
NELAP Accredited ACIL Seal of Excellence Award „100%ftqeW
