5.5. Leachate Collection and Recovery
Future modules will include leachate collection and recovery systems which—' ^^tee
will consist of a network of piping surrounded with drainage gravel The pipe
network +swill be equipped with riser pipes for inspection and cleaning if necessary.
Leachate will drains through the pipe network toward a leachate sump which will include
sensors and an automatic pump. Leachate will be pumped from these sumps and returned to
Subtitle D modules in accordance with the WDRs.
5.6. Drainage
County will design and construct temporary surface water drainage features to control runoff
and erosion as needed to control drainage as the landfill develops. Erosion will also be
controlled by establishing vegetation. Final surface configuration will include drainage berms or
benches to direct storm water away from refuse fill areas to the existing storm water facilities
(Appendix B).
Planned drainage features for the developed site (Appendix B) were sized using a peak flow
from a 100 -year occurrence storm. The Rational Method was used for design With this
method, the design storm duration is set equal to the time of concentration for the longest flow
Foothill Sanitary Landfill Page 53 Public Works/Solid Waste
Joint Technical DocumentFT_r._ County of an Joaquin— Revised 7/30/10
