The flow meter has been calculated prior to its use for this purpose. The meter must be
calculated every two years. The next required calibration is in the 2012 calendar year.
Data missing due to removal of the meter for calibration may be estimated from the flow rate
immediately prior, and immediately after, the missing data.
These data are used in the calculations performed in the annual GHG emission report.
3. Methane Content
Measure methane content once every calendar week using the GEM -2000 handheld meter (or
equivalent) from a sampling port at the automatic shut off valve or the flame arrestor (Figures 5,
6 and 7).
Record methane content and content of the other gasses reported by the Gem.
Calibrate the meter (field calibration) at least monthly, recording calibration "drift" in the
calibration log book. Calibrate more often if the drift exceeds 2% of full range (2% methane).
Calibrate the GEM at Landtech annually according to the schedule indicated on the instrument.
Arrange for a replacement meter during that time, or equivalent method to measure methane.
This data will be included in the calculations performed in the annual GHG emission report.
4. Pressure
Measure the pressure near the automatic shutdown valve (Figure 6), and record it on the
weekly data sheet (attached).
Calibrate the pressure meter at least annually by removing it from the pressure source, and
ensuring that the meter reads zero when there is no pressure. Record this information on the
Annual Calibration Sheet (attached).
Pressure data will be used to calculate the volume of landfill gas under standard conditions for
the annual GHG emissions report.
C. Monthly
Measure the parameters identified in the Flare Station Inspection Form (Attached). This form
includes blower run times.
Subpart HH Greenhouse Gas Plan
April 1, 2010
3
Foothill Landfill
San Joaquin County
