The
following comments are offered:
• The durability and hydraulic conductivity test result met the project
specifications;
A The submittal includes a certification that the material contains no limestone or
other material that may adversely react with landfill leachate. The supporting
testing (attached) indicates that 1.3% of the material is soluble in dilute
hydrochloric acid;
• Although the typical and upper end of the target gradation for the percentage
passing the No. 4 sieve is outside the specified range, and the provided gradation
does not indicate a target range for the material passing the No. 200 sieve,
Geosyntec accepts the material based on the hydraulic conductivity value that
meet the design intent. Therefore, the stated target gradation range in the
submittal replaces the gradation listed in Part 2.05.17 of Section 02300 of the
project specifications; and
• The Contractor shall provide quality control (QC) test data for actual material to
be supplied to the site per Table 02300-1. The Contractor should visit the plant in
advance to ascertain that the materials produced at the plant meet the project
specifications. Final acceptance of GDM will be based on conformance test
results on samples taken from placed materials as part of CQA.
•
Geosyntec Consultants, Inc., "Construction Memorandum #1, Area 2A Expansion, Foothill Sanitary Landfill," 1
June 2015. 9
P\SJC\1780\Task 6.1 (Submittals)\#1024D
engineers I scientist=s I innUvzjtUrs
