This training can be conducted during daily tailgate safety meetings. <br /> 5.1.32 Cold Stress <br /> Observe CB&I Procedure CMS-710-01-PR-0700. In addition, observe the following procedures and <br /> practices regarding cold stress: <br /> • Take breaks in heated shelters when working in extremely cold temperatures. <br /> • Upon entering the shelter, remove the outer layer of clothing and loosen other layers to promote <br /> evaporation of perspiration. <br /> • Drink warm liquids to reduce the susceptibility to cold stress. <br /> • Be aware of cold stress symptoms, including shivering, numbness in the extremities, and <br /> sluggishness. <br /> • Scheduling a work/rest regime to reduce the peak of cold stress; enforcing scheduled work breaks. <br /> See Form number CMS-710-01-FM-00702. <br /> 5.1.33 Inclement Weather <br /> Observe the following procedures and practices regarding inclement weather: <br /> • Stop outdoor work during electrical storms, hailstorms, and other extreme weather conditions such <br /> as extreme heat or cold. <br /> • Take cover indoors or in vehicle. <br /> • Listen to local forecasts for warning about specific weather hazards such as tornadoes, hurricanes, <br /> and flash floods. <br /> • Follow CMS-710-02-PR-06500 when working where lightning is possible in the area <br /> 5.1.34 Welding, Cutting, Brazing <br /> Observe CB&I Procedure CMS-710-02-PR-02300. In addition, observe the following procedures and <br /> practices when welding,cutting, or brazing: <br /> • Conduct fire safety evaluation. <br /> • Complete Safe Work Permit using form from Appendix A. <br /> • Follow AHA guidelines for hot work(see Appendix B)if applicable. <br /> • Ensure flammable materials are protected from hot work, sources of ignition. <br /> • Ensure fire watch/fire extinguisher is on standby by hot work location. <br /> 5.1.35 Heavy Equipment Decontamination <br /> Observe the following heavy equipment decontamination procedures and practices: <br /> • Wear modified Level D protection, including a face shield and safety goggles. <br /> • Ensure that other personnel are out of the area prior to decontamination. <br /> 5-19 <br />
