The"gap"between shear boxes was set at 80 mil(2.0 mm) <br /> 2. The test specimens were flooded during testing unless otherwise noted. <br /> 3. High Normal Stresses,>5psi(35 kPa)was applied using air pressure. <br /> 4. Low Normal Stresses, <5psi(35 kPa)was applied using dead weights. <br /> 5. Each specimen of Geomembrane and Geocomposite was cut to 14"x 17"and the GCL specimens were cut to 14"x 14" <br /> 2. The initial GCL moisture content was 10.3%.The final moisture contents ranged from 58 to 65%. <br /> 3. All Geosynthetic specimens were free floated between the upper and lower boxes. <br /> 4. Soil specimens were remolded into both upper and lower boxes. <br /> 5. The full test section was hydrated for 24 hours at 100psf in the shear box. <br /> 6. After hydration,points were consolidated for 2 hours at the specified normal stress,then sheared. <br /> 7. Shearing occurred at the interface of the sub-grade soil in the lower box and the Geocomposite on points 1 and 2. <br /> 8. Shearing occurred at the interface of the sub-grade soil in the upper box and GCL for the first part of the test and <br /> at the interface of the soil in the lower box and Gecomposite for the second part of the test for point 3. <br /> 9.
