The"gap"between shear boxes was set at 80 mil(2.0 mm)
2. The test specimens were flooded during testing unless otherwise noted.
3. High Normal Stresses,>5psi(35 kPa)was applied using air pressure.
4. Low Normal Stresses, <5psi(35 kPa)was applied using dead weights.
5. The tests were terminated after 3.0"(75 mm)of displacement unless otherwise noted.
6. Tests were performed in general accordance with ASTM procedure D-6243 using a Brainard-Kliman LGA 12 direct shear machine
with an effective area of 12"x 12"(300 x300 mm).
TEST ORIENTATION: NORMAL STRESS
411111111111111111 TOP BOX SUBGRADE SOIL GCL
GEOMEMBRANE
BOTTOM BOX W/RIDGID SUBSTRATE GEOCOMPOSITE
SPECIAL TEST NOTES:
1. Each specimen of Geomembrane and Geocomposite was cut to 14"x 1 T'.
2. The GCL specimens were cut to 14'x 14".
3. All Geosynthetic and GCL specimens were free floated between the upper and lower boxes.
4. All test points were hydrated for 24 hours at 100 psf.
5. All test points were consolidated for 2 hours at the specified normal stress, then sheared.
6. Shearing occurred at the interface of the smooth side of the Geomembrane and the non-textile side of the Geocomposite on all three points.
7. No noticable shearing occurred between the other interfaces on the three test points.
8. No stretching, abrasion,or tearing was observed on any of the Geosynthetic specimens.
By accepting the data and result represented on this page,Client agrees to limit the liability of Vector Engineering,Inc.from client and all other parties for claims arising out of use of this data to
the cast for the respective fasts MEresented hereon, and Client agrees to indemnity and hold harmless Vector from and against all liability in excess of the aforementioned limit.
Report Date: Entered By: Reviewed By.f
07/26/99 JMR Lab Log:
Page 2 of 2 161 D
