5.2.5. The north, east and west slopes will be placed at 5:1 (horizontal to
vertical) slope ratios. An intermediate liner system will be placed on the
proposed south slope face of the existing Austin Road Landfill Class III waste
placement to serve as a liner for placement of Class II refuse (see Section A on
Drawing 8). The interim final cover and intermediate liner interface detail is
shown on Drawing 8.
5.2.2.4 INTERMEDIATE LINER SYSTEM
The intermediate liner system that will be constructed over the future south
slope of the Class III waste placement in the existing Austin Road Landfill Class III
waste disposal area will copsist,.of(from bottom to top) (see Detail 3 on
Drawing 6):
• 1-foot of existing refuse cover soil;
• 1-foot of additional foundation soil;
• A 24-inch thick low permeabilitysoil,(minimum-permeability of 1 X1C1-'
cm/sec) or GCL;
• A 60-mil HDPE geomembrane (textured);
• Drainage geocomposite-, and
• A 12-inch thick protective cover soil layer.
A drainage geocomposite will collect leachate above the intermediate liner and
transport leachate down-gradient to the base liner LCRS system, with eventual
discharge to the site's leachate ponds. The limits of the intermediate liner will
include the south slope face of the proposed Class III waste placement on the
Austin Road Landfill area. The north, west and east slopes of the existing Austin
Road Landfill will not be lined since only Class III wastes have been or will be
placed in that area.
5.2.3 FINAL GRADING
The final grade configuration for the Forward Landfill will consist of top deck
gradients of 5 percent sloping toward top deck perimeter berms. The top deck
berms will divert surface flows to down drains. Landfill slope runoff is also
directed to downdrains via benches located at 50 foot maximum vertical
Forward Landfill JTD 5-4
L:\AI lied\2000.193\Reports\finalj td:Sec-5.0:08/2 2/01
BRYAN A.STIRRAT S.ASSOCIATE£
