If there is any doubt, or if the victim <br />is unconscious and cannot respond, no attempt should be made to <br />move the victim to the decontamination area. Only off-site <br />paramedics may move such victims. If the paramedics approve, the <br />victim's personal protective equipment (PPE) will be cut off at <br />the location of the mishap. If the decision is made not to <br />remove the victim's. protective clothing, he/she will be wrapped <br />in a tarp or similar object to protect the ambulance and crew <br />during transportation. If the victim is contaminated with <br />materials that threaten to cause additional injury or immediate <br />health hazards, the PPE will be carefully removed and the victim <br />washed appropriately. <br />EA -3 <br />
