is <br />2.0 SITE CHARACTERISTICS <br />Site Name: Forward Landfill <br />Site Address: Manteca, California <br />2.1 Background <br />Forward is located on the west side of South Austin Road, <br />between Arch Road and French Camp.. Road in San Joaquin County, <br />California. The south fork of South Little John -'s Creek <br />traverses the southern portion of the Site. The approximately <br />132 -acre landfill is licensed to accept Class II and Class III <br />waste materials. <br />Class I waste materials were formerly disposed at the <br />northeastern portion of the Site. The Class i cells are <br />permanently encapsulated and currently closed. Disposal <br />operations are conducted within active Class 11 ,eLnd Cl -ass- 111 <br />disposal pits located at the central portion of the Site <br />extending from the northern banks of the South Little John's <br />Creek to the northern perimeter of the Site. <br />The main entrance and office are located at the northeast <br />corner of the Site. A second office and transfer station are <br />located at °the southeastern portion of the Site. Storage <br />sheds; aboveground tanks storing gasoline, diesel, and waste <br />oil.;.and scales are located at the northwestern portion of the <br />Site.
