NE <br />DDT is a colorless crystal or white to slightly off-white powder <br />with a slightly aromatic odor. <br />Short-term exposure to DDT can cause a prickly sensation of the <br />tongue, lips, and face, a general feeling of ill health, headache, <br />fatigue, vomiting, dizziness, tremors, convulsions, partial <br />paralysis of the hands, and coma. DDT also can irritate the eyes <br />and skin. Skin absorption of DDT depends on the solvent or <br />vehicle; crystalline or powdered DDT is not easily absorbed through <br />the skin, but emulsions of DDT are absorbed to some degree. <br />The PEL for DDT is 1 mg/m3, <br />• <br />27 <br />
