11 <br />u <br />Perchloroethylene (PCE) <br />PCE, also known as tetrachloroethylene, is a colorless liquid with <br />an ether -like odor. <br />Short-term exposure to PCE may cause headaches, nausea, drowsiness, <br />dizziness, incoordination, unconsciousness, irritation of the eyes, <br />nose, and throat, and flushing of the face and neck. In addition, <br />it may cause liver damage with such findings as yellow jaundice and <br />dark urine_ Liver damage may become evident several weeks after <br />exposure. <br />PCE is classified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a <br />Group B2 probable human carcinogen. <br />The PEL for PCE is 25 ppm in air. <br />W. <br />
