The processing pad is an 8- inch thick reinforced concrete slab. 6.5.1 COMPOST OPERATIONS Currently, compost operations are not conducted at the Forward Landfill. In the event that compost operations are re-implemented, the LEA will be notified and if necessary, a revised description of operating procedures will be submitted in the form of a JTD amendment. 6.6 HEALTH AND SAFETY The following ongoing practices minimize potential health hazards to site operating personnel: • Training and directing all site personnel to identify potentially harmful wastes that may be delivered to the site. • Mandatory asbestos training program to inform asbestos workers of potential health hazards associated with asbestos. • Minimizing the personnel's exposure to wastes that may present a health hazard. • Maintaining on-site first-aid supplies. • Training site personnel in safe operating procedures (including Hazardous Materials [HAZMAT] screening classes as appropriate) and compliance with operating provisions. • Using personnel protective equipment at all times. • Vehicle speed limit on internal unpaved roads set at 10 mph. Speed limit signs are posted at the landfill entrance facility. A Health and Safety Plan has been prepared for the Forward Landfill and a copy is kept in the office. A copy of the Health and Safety Plan is included in Appendix J. 6.6.1 SANITARY FACILITIES Portable toilets are provided by Delta Sanitation Services and are serviced daily.
