A leachate collection and recovery system, including leachate collection swales
and LCRS pipes, collect leachate from the LCRS gravel layer. Spacing of LCRS
lateral pipes and headers was determined by HELP2 leachate generation
modeling performed by Geologic Associates (GLA) (see Appendix D). Leachate
is collected and discharged to the on-site leachate ponds.
5.2.2.2 SLOPE LINER SYSTEM
The slope liner system consists of (from bottom to top) (see Details 2 and 4 on
Drawing 6):
• Prepared subgrade;
• A 24-inch thick low permeability soil (minimum permeability of
1 x 10-' cm/sec) or GCL;
• A 60 mil HDPE liner (single sided textured, textured side down);
• A geocomposite drainage net (geonet); and
• A 12-inch thick protective cover soil layer.
The geonet will extend over the entire slope area and will terminate within the
base liner, 1-foot thick LCRS drainage layer at a 5-foot offset from the toe of
slope. The sideslope liner system will be anchored in a trench located at the top
of the excavation slope.
5.2.2.3 INTERIM FINAL COVER
The interim final cover system will consist of(from bottom to top) (see Detail 1
on Drawing 3):
• Two-foot foundation layer consisting of:
- Existing intermediate soil cover
- One foot of additional foundation soil material
• Either GCL or 12 inches of low-permeability soil (minimum permeability of
1 x 10-6 cm/sec);
• 12-inch of vegetative soil layer;
• 12-inch drainage gravel or drainage geocomposite.
Forward Landfill JTD 5-3
L.'\Allied\2000.193\Reports\JTD-PC PCMPi 02:Sec-5.0:5/24/02
Revision 1:07/16/02 BRYAN A.STIRRAT&ASSOCIATES
