submitted:
• Analytical results from a state-certified laboratory for:
(a) Fish Bioassay
(b) Pentachlorophenol (TCLP)
(c) o-Cresol, m-Cresol, p-Cresol (TCLP)
(d) Arsenic, total and soluble (if applicable)
(e) Any other applicable metals, total and soluble
• Laboratory Chain-of-Custody forms.
• A fully completed waste characterization form, signed by the generator.
Acceptable treated wood wastes are disposed in the landfill in the same manner
as other commercial wastes. No salvaging or recovery of treated wood waste is
permitted. If treated wood wastes are observed in the recycling area, they are
separated and subjected to the preacceptance procedure.
6.5 SALVAGING AND VOLUME REDUCTION
Salvaging, volume reduction, and recycling activities are permitted and have
been conducted in the past at the transfer station and resource recovery
facility located in the area of the existing Forward Landfill, south of the South
Branch. No salvaging, volume reduction, or recycling is currently performed
at the landfill. Currently this area is only being used for compost operations
and is operated by Lionudakis. The composting facilities include an in-ground
scale, office trailer, and processing and composting pads. The processing pad
is an 8-inch thick reinforced concrete slab.
6.5.1 COMPOST OPERATIONS
The compost operations consist of processing up to 500 tons of source
separated wood and green waste per day. Feedstock is received from various
local sources, however, the majority of feedstock is received from San
Joaquin County trash/delivery trucks and the remaining from self-haulers,
independent recycling haulers, and tree trimming/landscaping firms.
Incoming feedstock loads are measured and checked at the scale. The scale
attendant assesses the acceptability of the load through a preliminary visual
inspection and records the origin, material type, and volume and/or weight.
Forward Landfill JTD 6-26
L:Wlied\2000.193\Reports\finaljtd:Sec-6.0 6-9-03:5/22/02
Rev. 1: 7/2002: Rev. 2: 4/2003; Rev 3: 6/2003
