The"gap"between shear boxes was set at 80 mil(2.0 mm)
2. The test specimens were flooded during testing unless otherwise noted.
3. High Normal Stress(>5psi)was applied using air pressure.
4. Low Normal Stress(<5psi)was applied using dead weights.
5. The tests were terminated after 3.0"of displacement unless otherwise noted.
6. Tests were performed in general accordance with ASTM procedure D-5321-92 Method B using a Brainard-Killman LG-112 direct shear machine
with an effective area of 12"x 12".
TEST ORIENTATION:
NORMAL STRESS
TOP BOX W/I SUBGRADE SOIL <GCL <HDPE
mmmmmm
BOTTOM BOX W/FRICTION SAND " <GEOCOMPOSITE
SPECIAL TEST NOTES:
1. Each specimen of Geocomposite was cut to 14"x 20"and clamped into the lower shear box with"channel clamps."
2. The soil was remolded in the upper box to approximately 90%of its maximum dry density, and 2 percent over optimum moisture content.
3. The GCL specimens were hydrated for 24 hrs under 100 psf, loaded into the test specimen for 2 hours under normal stress and then sheared.
4. The initial water content of the GCL was 24.8%and final water contents were:pt.1:104.79%,pt.2:99.56%,pt.3:82.58%.
5. The test was performed in a"wet'or"flooded"condition.
By accepting the data and result represented on this page,Client agrees to limit the liability of Vector Engineering,Inc.from client and all other parfies for claims arising out or use of this data to
the cost for the respective test(s)represented hereon, and Client agrees to indemnity and hold harmless Vector from and against all liability in excess of the aforementioned limit.
Report Date: Entered By: Reviewed By.
