This seismic site exposure evaluation consists of evaluation
of the seismic hazard for the site and development of corresponding design ground
motions. The results of the seismic site exposure evaluation indicate that the Maximum
Probable Earthquake (NTE) at the site is either a Moment Magnitude (M,) 6.4 event on
the Great Valley blind thrust system approximately 21 miles (34 km) southwest of the
site or a M,7.9 event on the San Andreas fault system which is approximately 70 miles
(112 km) southwest of the site. The results of the seismic site exposure evaluation
further indicate that the Maximum Credible Earthquake (MCE) at the site is either a
Moment Magnitude (Mw) 6.7 event on the Great Valley blind thrust system or a M"7.9
event on the San Andreas fault system.
GeoSyntec characterized both the MPE and MCE for the site with two sets
of representative ground motion parameters. Each set consists of the peak horizontal
ground acceleration in a hypothetical bedrock outcrop at the geometric center of the site
(PHGA), a target acceleration response spectra, and a target duration of strong ground
shaking for candidate NTE (MCE) events considered.
