(CASE NO. 2209)
We have reviewed the Third Quarter 2003, Environmental Monitoring Report submitted on 29 October
2003 on your behalf by Geologic Associates. The enclosed Monitoring Report Compliance Checklist
summarizes our comments on the report.
At the old Forward unit low-levels of VOCs (less than practical quantitation limit)were detected in five
wells and inorganic parameters greater than concentration limits were detected in multiple wells.
Inorganic concentrations greater than background may be due to spacial variations in the aquifer and
concentrations do not exceed inter-well tolerance limits. However, at several wells some inorganic
constituents show an apparent pattern of increasing concentrations. At this time the data in inconclusive
and there is no evidence of a new release to groundwater.
At the Austin unit VOCs were detected in six wells and inorganic parameters greater than concentration
limits were detected in three wells. The existing corrective actions for VOC contamination in
groundwater were recently upgraded and concentration trends will be monitored closely over the next
few years.
If you have any questions please call me at,(916) 255-3814.
Ross D.
