Twenty(20)belly dump trucks began delivering minus three-eighths inch(-3/8")drain rock in the
early morning. The material was placed by conveyor onto the east FU-03 cell floor and spread westward by
a low ground pressure D6. Grade indicating devices were placed on thirty-five feet centers on the cell floor
to ensure that the material was placed at proper one foot(1')thickness. The material was also randomly
probed by hand to double check the thickness. Mechanical difficulties with the conveyor halted placement
in the mid afternoon.
GSE constructed and placed the air vents on the slopes of the leachate pond in the morning and in the
afternoon placed sixteen-ounce(16oz)geotextile in the leachate pond floor in preparation of the gravel log
construction. The foreman stated that the crew would not be on site tomorrow.
One sample of the drain rock was obtained for sieve analysis and constant head permeability.
I was verbally informed by Lochlin C. (Allied)that the use of the double textured 60 mil HDPE on the
access road/ramp into the leachate pond was approved by the project engineer, Sangeeta Lewis.
Also approved,by me,was the use of the low ground pressure D4 dozer to assist the D-6 in spreading the
granular drainage material. The decision was made considering the fact that the machine and operator have
verifiable experience in performing this task, which I have personally observed, and that the contractor is
responsible for any damaged liner material after the second leak test is performed.
repared By: Reviewed By:
4/23/03,Rev. 0 1 of 1
r'.-,
