The 16G blade graded the lower half of the 5 to 1 north slope of the FU-03 cell. One D6 dozer
cut the west slope of the FU-03 cell and the other D6 cut the north, south and west slopes of the desilting
pond. The scraper hauled the excess cut material to the east stockpile. The D8 dozer began to process the
clay stockpile for placement. Acceptance of the survey performed yesterday afternoon by Quartaroli
Surveying had not been given as of ten o'clock when cell floor and stockpile preparation had begun. In the
early afternoon,Jim H. (Sukut) showed the survey data to Bryan F. and me and stated that the floor had
been accepted with the exception of four points that were too high. Jim said that the blade would trim those
areas off and asked if placement could begin on the cell floor in the southeast quadrant. Both Bryan and I
agreed that this would be acceptable and in the best interest of project progress. However, in a brief meeting
with Butch,Jim,Mike(the surveyor)and me,Mike stated that he had not checked all the rest of the floor
and wondered why Sukut was placing clay on it. It was decided that Mike would check all elevations and
determine if they are within the specified tolerances, Sukut would halt clay placement and after the survey
data was completed the clay would either be removed to resurvey or placement would continue.
On site lab testing of the native clay material continued with two(2)Atterberg limits tests being taken out
of the oven and calculated. One(1)was performed and set into the oven to dry and will be calculated
tomorrow. One (1) sieve analysis was washed over the number 200 sieve and set in the oven to dry
overnight.
Certificates for the geosynthetic, geotextile and geosynthetic clay liner material were delivered to the site
by Bryan F. (Vector)and will be reviewed then compared to the materials as they arrive on site next week.
He also obtained the bucket of native clay sampled previously to deliver to the Vector laboratory for large
scale direct shear testing.
Aft
Prepared By: Reviewed By:
4/23/03,Rev. 0 1 of 1
C-,)
