documented the materials encountered during drilling and excavation. Documentation is
included in well drilling/completion logs in Appendix A, the daily construction reports in
Appendix B, and the Perimeter LFG Migration Control System record drawings in
Appendix C.
3.1.4 Field Changes
The following field changes were incorporated into the perimeter LFG extraction well
construction:
• All borings were relocated approximately 2.5 feet west of the surveyed design
locations, to avoid encountering or damaging the edge anchor flap of the existing
landfill base liner.
3.2 Multi-Level LFG Monitoring Probes
3.2.1 Description of Work
TRG drilled and installed 35 LFG multi-level monitoring probes between September 24
and October 1, 2004. Construction of the 35 LFG multi-level monitoring probes,
designated TGP-1 through TGP-35, was performed with air-rotary drilling technology.
CDI drilled and installed the remaining 4 LFG multi-level monitoring probes between
October 14 and October 15, 2004. Each probe was completed in accordance with the
design drawings supplied by BAS. The major components of probe construction included
the following:
• Drilling of approximately 1,225 feet of vertical monitoring probe borings using
8-inch diameter air rotary drilling technology to complete 35 bore holes
• Drilling of approximately 140 feet of vertical monitoring probe borings using fl-
inch rotary auger drilling technology to complete 4 bore holes
• Installation of approximately 2,534 linear feet of 0.75-inch diameter Schedule 40
PVC probe casing
The total depth of monitoring probe borings logged was 1,363 linear feet, with an average
boring depth of 35 feet. The newly installed LFG shallow, intermediate, and deep
monitoring probe casings at each probe location are 10, 20, and 35 feet in depth,
respectively. Refer to Appendix A for drilling/construction logs and Drawing 2
(Appendix C) for as-built monitoring probe locations.
EMCON/OWT
N:\_LANDFIL\AWI Austin Road-Forward\2004 SVE CQA\text\report\CQA report final.doc Rev.0,115105
3-2
