Carol Carolla- Res onse to LFA comments.doc Page 8
day is needed to build a tipping pad. Is this a winter pad? Does
Forward Landfill build a tipping pad every other day? Does this
include daily cover from the day prior?
Response: The calculations presented in Appendix C-1 present the amount of
material to construct a tipping pad area. Daily average and
maximum needs for this material is included in Section 4.3.1 and
based on current records (2005).
Comment 32: The JTD, Appendix C-1, Page 4 of 5, indicates how the volume of
C&D ADC is derived, but it does not provide a tonnage estimate
(see comments 10 and 14). Provide a tonnage estimate for C&D
ADC.
Response: See response to Comment No. 29.
Comment 33: The JTD, Appendix C-1, Page 4 of 5, indicates that treated auto
shredder waste when deployed has a specific density greater than
concrete or soil. This does not seem realistic. Provide supporting
documentation from the generator of the treated auto shredder waste
that shows the density of the material as it leaves their facility.
Response: Based on field testing of the treated auto shredder reside (TASR), it
was found to have properties similar to the C&D waste after it was
processed to remove the more dense materials, which are reused on-
site for wet weather tipping areas, internal roads or erosion control.
The less dense residual material is used as ADC. Field
observations showed that one (1) ton of TASW and one (1) ton of
C&D. ADC covered approximately 17 square feet, one (1) foot thick.
8
JAA lied\Forward\JTD AmendmentWarch 2006 JTD - LEA Resp\JTD\Response to LEA comments.doc; 5/16/2006
