In addition, the landfill has portable lights for operations after dark (i.e., in the winter). 6.6.5 SAFETY EQUIPMENT Forward has a number of site and personal safety procedures in place. The following equipment and systems have been installed at the site to prevent and control accidental ignition of combustible materials: • Fire extinguishers - inspected daily and recharged annually; • Annual fire inspections by the Manteca-Lathrop Fire Department; • A soil supply is kept near the working face to smother a potential fire; • Two water trucks are available; • Emergency flinch fire hose hook up in the southeast corner of the landfill, north of the South Fork and a 2-1/2-inch fire hose hook-up in the entrance facilities area for the fire department; • Knoxbox outside the landfill main entrance with keys to the main gate, landfill office, transfer station office, and fire box; and, • A pressurized water system, as needed. Regular maintenance, inspection, and housekeeping procedures are conducted for this equipment. Emergency equipment operating instructions, escape routes, emergency response (including a separate section on ACM) and evacuation procedures are identified in the Emergency Response Plan (discussed in Section 8.3 and included in Appendix J).
