2.0 STORAGE AREA AND SIGNAGE
2.1 HAZARDOUS WASTE STORAGE AREA
The hazardous waste storage locker is located at the site's maintenance yard for
wastes collected as part of the HWEP. The storage locker is a special chemical storage
building that is kept locked. This area is designed for the handling and storage of
hazardous wastes, including secondary containment, segregation of incompatible
wastes, and approved storage containers, which are safe and convenient for storing
identified wastes.
On-site hazardous waste storage will be limited to 90 days or as required by applicable
state laws and regulations prior to being transported to a permitted treatment, storage
and disposal facility (TSDF). The wastes may be removed prior to the 90 days, once
the locker reaches 90 percent of its capacity, whichever happens first. The
"Accumulation Start Date" on the California hazardous waste label of each container
hazardous waste will be monitored on a regular basis. Prior to shipment off site, all
materials will be overpacked and manifested with a licensed hazardous waste hauler.
Unauthorized hazardous waste discharges will be reported to the following agencies:
Local Emergency Response Agency
(9-1-1)
Governor's Office of Emergency Services,
State Warning Center
(800) 852-7550
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (LEA)
(209) 468-3420
Department of Toxic Substances Control - Cal-EPA
(916) 324-1826
2-1
J:\Allied\Forward\2005.0051 Forward Load Check\2006 Load Check Program\Sec2.Doc:12/21/2006
BRYAN A.STIRRAT&.ASSOCIATES
