WMU FU-05 November 2006
Forward Landfill Project No.021605.07
® 5.3.4 Leak Location Survey
A leak location survey was conducted twice during the construction of WMU FU-06.
The first leak location survey was performed upon completion of the geomembrane
and prior to placement of the cushion geotextile and LCRS drain gravel. The second
leak location survey was performed upon completion of the operations layer
placement. Vector Engineering conducted the leak location survey on both the bare
geomembrane and after the drainage gravel and operations layer were completed.
During the first leak location survey, three (3) holes were found in the
geomembrane liner. The majority of these holes were not on seams, but were on the
panels themselves, and appeared to be defects caused during the installation
process. These holes were repaired and retested before the overlying cushion
geotextile was placed. No holes were found during the second leak location survey,
conducted after the operations layer was placed. A complete report of the procedure
and findings of the leak location surveys are included in Appendix J.
® 5.4 Geotextile
5.4.1 General
An 8-oz/yd2 geotextile was used as a separation layer between the LCRS granular
drainage material and the operations layer and in the LCRS trenches to
encapsulate the gravel fill and HDPE piping. A 12-oz/yd2 geotextile was used as a
cushion layer on the floor between the geomembrane and LCRS granular drainage
material.
5.4.2 Receiving Inspection
Upon arrival by truck shipment, Vector's CQA Monitor observed the unloading and
storage of the geotextile rolls. Each roll of geotextile was logged in by roll number
and was crosschecked against the quality control documents submitted by the
Contractor. Following inspection of the rolls, the material was approved for
Vector Engineering,Inc.• 143E Spring Hill Drive•Grass Valley,CA 95945•(530)272-2448
-31-
