Monthly leachate sampling for the Austin Unit was completed as follows:
• Leachate generated b the Austin Unit is collected in sumps and a pump system transfers the •
leachate from the sump to an above ground polyethylene holding tank.
. Upon arrival at the sampling location, the leachate tank was inspected for evidence of
tampering and/or vandalism.
. The leachate tanks were then checked for leachate. If leachate was present, a representative
sample was collected from one of the leachate tanks using a decontaminated dipper or a new
(factory sealed) disposable bailer.
. Monthly leachate samples are collected and analyzed in the field for pH and EC and recorded
on a Well Data Sheet. In addition to monthly monitoring, a leachate sample is collected
annually during the fourth quarter monitoring period and submitted to the laboratory and
analyzed for the parameters listed in Table 1 B.
. Sample preservation, order of collection, and Chain-of-Custody procedures described above
for groundwater sampling were also adhered to for leachate sample collection.
4
D AForwardSAplan_w06.doc
Geologic Associates
