A model was developed to analyze this mechanism, as shown on Figure 1. In thi <br />model, soil and waste are represented by a half space medium.. Surface differential settlement <br />in the model are influenced by the following factors: <br />• Engineering properties. of the medium; <br />• The thickness of the medium over the void (T); <br />• The containment liner system grade (cx); and <br />• The void size (length L x width I y x depth D). - <br />To quantify the influence of these factors on surface deformation, an influence functiot <br />is first developed.
