INTERFACE LINER <br />SLOPE REINFORCEMENT DESIGN FOR SLOPES STEEPER THAN 6:1 <br />WMU FU -06 FORWARD INC. LANDFILL <br />PROBLEM: <br />Estimate the tensile strength of the geogrid required to support the WMU FU -06 interface liner in the <br />transition/connection area between the northern and southern portions of WMU FU -06. <br />GIVEN: <br />The methodology presented in "Landfill Liner Support over Yielding Foundations" by Terence G. Sheridan <br />of Tensar Corp. estimates the required tensile strength of the geogrid to bridge a collapsible void under the <br />liner system. Based on discussions with the landfill operator, no voids as large as a refrigerator were <br />disposed in the area under consideration. Refuse placed consisted of MSW and C&D wastes. The <br />maximum estimated collapsible void size is approximately 4 -ft. <br />1. The long-term tensile strength required is 551 lbs/ft. Tensar UX 1100 will meet this requirement. <br />2.
