® 1.0 INTRODUCTION
On behalf of Forward Inc. (Forward), this report presents water quality monitoring data
generated during the third quarter 2006 monitoring period for the Forward Landfill in San
Joaquin County, California. Monitoring was performed in accordance with requirements
listed in the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) Order No.
R5-2003-0049. For reporting purposes the water quality monitoring network consists of
two units: the Forward Unit and the Austin Unit. Section 1 provides a description of the
monitoring network, site inspections, and standard observations; and Sections 2 and 3
include discussions of water quality data for the Forward and Austin Units, respectively.
1.1 MONITORING NETWORK
The water quality monitoring network at the Forward Unit currently includes 19
groundwater monitoring wells, one domestic well, two surface water monitoring stations,
and 15 lysimeters (Figure 1-1). Monitoring wells at the Forward Unit have been
constructed to monitor groundwater at the facility as follows:
Forward Unit Groundwater Monitoring Network
Monitoring Point Monitoring Point I.D.
Groundwater Monitoring MW-22,MW-23R
Wells—Background
Groundwater Monitoring MW-IA/B,MW-2A/B,MW-3A/B,MW-10,
Wells—Compliance MW-13A/B,MW-14A/B,MW-15,MW-16,MW-17,MW-18,
MW-19,MW-21
Domestic Well DW-9690
Piezometers MW-113,MW-213,MW-313,MW-1313,MW-14B
Surface Water Stations FSW-1,FSW-2
Lysimeters E-1,E-2,W-1,W-2,LY-A,LY-BG1,LY-E1B,LY-E2A,
LY-E213,D93A,D9313,D01,D02,FU-03,Leachate Pond
The monitoring network at the Austin Unit currently includes 17 groundwater monitoring
wells and two surface water monitoring stations(Figure 1-1). The detection monitoring
program(DMP)wells are used to detect a potential release from the landfill, while the
corrective action program(CAP)wells are used to evaluate changes in water quality
caused by a release from the landfill and by subsequent corrective action measures.
Monitoring wells at the Austin Unit have been constructed to monitor the groundwater at
the facility as follows:
1D-0003 021NForww"=tBa 0&doc
1 Geologic Associates
