Sampling Equipment
Interim gas sampling probes were used to monitor ser ccEach gases at the landfillperimeter.
probe consists of a S-fdot long, grinch diameter stainless steel pipe, with f-inch holes
staggexed every 2 inches at the bottom 18 inch to allow for gases-to migzate into the probes. A
pointed tip was welded to the end of the probe for bitter penetration.
A ball valve and brass fitting were hmtalled at the top of each probe to contain gas prunes and
facilitate irtsttument hook-up to the probe. a es were left closed except during monitoring
or instrument reading. Each probe is tagged wi a brass plate and identified as `°GP-1" through
AGA-90 Landtcc Infra rsd Gas Analyzer was used to monitor methane, carbon.dioxide.(C®,
and oxYgen(U.) levels at each probe location. -1banalyzer was calibrated for methane, COQ,and
OZ prior to use in the field-Calibration.logs are-included in ih.isreport.
Gas Monitoring
Ambient air measurements of methane, oxygen, carbon dioxide; and baromettic-pressure-were - Y
taken at each gas probe location. Those readings
-were recopied and the
instrument- was
connected to the probe. 'The valve was opened and gmbc.gas pressure moments were taken._
The pzvbc was then. purged fortwo probe volumes. .Readings•were thou collected at
approximately 3.4- to 60--second int i..a stable
reading was .obtained._. These
]Measurements of methane, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and ambient barometric pressure wire then
rcxorded_ Monitoring was also conducted at various locations in three building sites for the
Presence of methane gas_ Monitoring was conducted at the office trailer at the cuttancc to the
landfill, trailer boxes- at the service shop, and tnWer boxes at the transfer building. These
locations were monitored!for any gas pockets at.the foundation and near any opening from the
floor such as piping holes, electrical conduits,or foor cracks.
LYSWE'TERS
Lysime'tcxs were sampled using the following standard protocol:
1.
Prior to sampling lyslmetcrs, the pr=ure-vacuurn equipment is checked.and cleaned.
23-433-949-FOI\23joRM A-12
zM Kkkldder.t=.
