WMU FU-08 October 2008
Forward Landfill Project No.021605.08
Monitor performed sieve analysis tests on five (5) samples of the granular drainage
gravel. In addition, Vector CQA Monitor performed sieve analysis on one (1) sample
of the coarse gravel fill.
The results of LCRS granular drainage material sieve analyses indicated 100%
passing the 3/8-inch sieve and less than 3% passing the No. 200 sieve. The results of
the coarse gravel sieve analyses indicated 100% passing the 1-inch sieve, maximum
15% passing the 1/2-inch sieve, maximum 5% passing the No. 4 sieve and maximum
2% passing the No. 200 sieve.
Hydraulic conductivity testing of the granular drainage material indicated an
average flow rate greater than 10.0 cm/sec, which exceeds the requirement of 0.1
cm/sec. Hydraulic conductivity testing of the coarse granular drainage material
indicated an average flow rate greater than 10.0 cm/sec, which exceeds the
requirement of 1 cm/sec.
A summary of the laboratory testing conducted on the granular drainage layer and
the coarse gravel are presented in Tables 6 and 7, respectively. The laboratory test
results of the granular drainage gravel and coarse gravel testing are included in
Appendix F and Appendix G, respectively.
TABLE6
GRANULARI MATERIAL LABORATORY TESTING SUMMARY
SAMPLE GRAIN SIZE PERM.
NUMBER SOIL DESCRIPTION 3/4° 200% K(cm/sec)
SPECIFICATIONS 100% <3% >0.1 cm/sec
GD-1 3/8" Pea Gravel 100% 0.4% >10 cm/sec
GD-2 3/8" Pea Gravel 100% 0.3% >10 cm/sec
GD-3 3/8" Pea Gravel 100% 0.4% >10 cm/sec
GD-4 3/8" Pea Gravel 100% 0.3% >10 cm/sec
Vector Engineering, Inc. ° 143E Spring Hill Drive•Grass Valley, CA 95945 •(530)272-2448
-17-
